The passionate, life-giving red of cinnabar and sacrificial vessels—the colour of the beating heart, of first blood, of fire itself. Sacred and fervent, this was the hardest red to coax from the kiln, each success won from countless failures. It is born of copper transmuted in a high-reduction flame, where the metal surrenders its oxygen and turns from green to a deep, glowing crimson—an alchemy so volatile a single misjudged moment costs the entire firing.
