Rich as peacock feathers and ancient as the imperial kilns, it holds the vitality of pine and the permanence of jade. Its brilliance is the work of copper in an oxygen-rich fire—the same metal that would turn blood-red if starved of air—here coaxed to bloom into a deep, living verdure.
