Common Mistakes for Choosing Tiles
DON’T RUSH
You are probably excited, and you can’t wait to start your home makeover but it’s imperative that you take the time to choose your tile wisely. Browse different styles and shapes. Examine the tile in real life so you can see what it really looks like instead of just looking at it online. Visit showrooms and talk to the pros. There is a wide assortment of colours, and styles so be sure to evaluate all of them prior to making a purchase.

INVEST IN DURABILITY!
You do not want to buy cheap tiles. Instead, buy tile from a leading manufacturer who is known for durability.
TILE SLIP RESISTANCE
Are you dreaming of pristine white tile in the bathroom? Yes, a gleaming floor is appealing but you should also think about slip resistance. Many forms of tile become very slippery when wet so should be avoided in the bathroom, kitchen, outdoors or around a pool where a slip and fall is a constant threat when the tile becomes wet. Be sure to ask about slip resistance when making a tile choice.

TILE SIZES
Big tiles give a feeling of space to a small room. You can even limit the grout line spacing to make the tile appear seamless. If you want the tiles to stand out, then go with smaller tiles and a contrasting grout.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOUR
You want your walls and floor to coordinate so pick tiles that truly complement the room. Darker colours can create a relaxed atmosphere and lighter hues add warmth. Remember, dark colours show dirt such as pet hair and dust. Light coloured tiles actually hide dirt well but might not be the perfect choice in an entryway or foyer where tracked in mud and grime will stand out in contrast.
