Some colours cannot be chosen. They have to be made.
Architects and designers work directly with our craftsmen on bespoke handmade tiles — colours, glazes, shapes and formats developed for one project, and no other.

We do not reproduce colours. We interpret them.
Our handmade collection draws on the depth of Chinese ceramic heritage — glazing techniques refined over centuries, and a reverence for the beauty only the hand can produce. Each tile carries the trace of its making: the pull of the glaze, the breath of the kiln, the quiet variation no machine can imitate.
This is not colour matching. Glaze is a living material: it responds to firing temperature, clay body, mineral content and the hand that applies it. The same recipe can leave the kiln differently on a different day. Arriving at a beautiful handmade colour takes expertise, experimentation and patience — and that is precisely where its value lies.
Bring us an emotion, a landscape, a memory, a material palette, and we will translate it into clay, glaze and fire.
Every collaboration follows its own path, but most move through five movements.
You share the project, the atmosphere you are building, the references that move you. We listen.
A structured reflection closer to commissioning an artwork than specifying a product. It asks what the colour should feel like before it asks what it should look like.
Our craftsmen compose glaze recipes, adjust minerals and application, and fire trial after trial until the surface starts to speak the language of your project.
You receive physical samples — to hold, to place against your other materials, to watch in changing light. We refine together until the surface is right.
Your tiles are made by hand, glazed by hand and fired in our kilns. Each one is unique; together they form a surface that belongs only to your project.
Every bespoke collaboration begins with understanding. Your answers give our craftsmen and colour designers the context they need to interpret your vision in clay, glaze and fire. Complete what you can — we will explore the rest together in conversation.
Bespoke development is reserved for the Kaolin Trade Program. Each collaboration asks real time of our craftsmen, so we take on only the projects we can give that time to. Sending this questionnaire is how the conversation starts.
Prefer paper? Download the questionnaire as a PDF and send it to your Kaolin representative.
Not ready for the full brief yet? Start with a conversation — we will work through it together.
Bespoke glazes developed for hospitality, luxury retail and private residences — surfaces with depth, movement and a presence no standard material could offer. We are not manufacturing products. We are making pieces of functional art.
