Tile Body Difference

Body of the tile is quite often overlooked when it comes to the tile choice. However, it can easily reveal the true quality and its complexity. More sophisticated bodies can provide additional value and increase the number of applications. It is important to select tiles with bodies that follow the main theme and enhance the overall realistic look.

Colour body

It has homogeneous colour throughout the body of the tile. The colour of the body is determined by the raw materials used for the mix.

Low-end, cheaper tiles are being made with cheaper clay, which results in the more brownish colour of the body, regardless of its surface look. Also, colour inconsistencies can be picked up when the clay and raw materials being used, resulting in a body with different shades.

The High-quality manufacturers always try to match the colour of the body with the colour of the tile surface (basically its look). The body should look seamless and consistent. To achieve that result, not only high-quality raw material needs to be used, but would also require more time to fine-tune and perfection its mix.

Super white body colour requires purest white clay. The highest whiteness level that is possible to achieve with degree between 70 and 80. The tile will look very white even in relatively dark spaces. Combination of Super White body and Marble look is very crucial to achieve superior quality.

That body has different colour particles that usually follow the colour of the print or has the same surface finish. For example, granite-look tiles have the same look as on the surface as in the body providing a seamless look.

Full body

The look on the surface of the tile seems to continue through the body of the tile as well with similar colours and veins. That provides a more realistic look especially when the edges of tiles are being exposed. It is being used for more subtle colours and veins.

Homogeneous body

The similar technique as a normal full-body, however, the surface look is not only being followed through the edges, but also when engraving. Which means, the veins are being followed with even higher precision, providing endless opportunities for tile treatment. This is the latest technology and Kaolin is proud of being able to bring those unique products to the client, arguably being the only importer in Australia.
