Chris Ma’s insightful talk on the meaning and materiality of his works was truly inspiring. With a renewed focus on the beauty of raw materials, attendees enjoyed a cold brew tea or a cocktail and delicious treats while delving into Chris’s 40 years of experience with clay. He explained the importance of understanding the character and nature of porcelain, as well as the necessary formats and techniques needed to relate to nature. In some of his works, he has used recycled porcelain to create something entirely new.

Chris’s acknowledgment that the very same porcelain used in our tiles is also used in fine China highlights the wisdom and intelligence required to work with clay as an art form. The ability to make such a beautiful man-made product that can be recycled back into the earth is truly remarkable. It’s worth talking about clay, it help give rise to a new era of sustainable materiality.
Chris Ma’s work will be exhibited in our showroom until the 27th April 2023. Make sure you come in and see it!
